Kinesis Marketing Wins Nielsen Norman Group Award
For Coldwell Banker Intranet -- One of 10 Best for 2008

Morristown, NJ - January 9, 2008 - For the second year, Kinesis Marketing has won a prestigious Nielsen Norman Group Award for Intranet design and overall user experience. Kinesis is being honored for its work on the Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation Intranet - Coldwell Banker Works - which was named one of the 10 Best-designed Intranets for 2008 by Nielsen Norman Group. Last year, Kinesis won for The Comcast Store.

Nielsen Norman Group recognized Kinesis and the other winners for their focus on productivity tools, employee self-service, access to knowledgeable people and better-presented company news. Regarding Coldwell Banker Works, Nielsen Norman Group liked several specific features:

  • "Coldwell Banker's Intranet works somewhat like an extranet: it connects 3,800 independently owned and operated residential and commercial real estate offices, while appearing to users as a local office Intranet rather than a corporate Intranet"
  • Coldwell Banker's employee directory goes "beyond the basics" and "emphasizes finding employees by geography - an enhancement that completely makes sense for a real estate company" It also includes a special Referral feature, influenced by end-users, that helps agents find colleagues for referral purposes
  • The Coldwell Banker Intranet introduced "co-mingling rules" in the CMS to blend corporate-level content with content from the local (franchise or office) level. An extra CMS field for prioritizing content "creates a vastly more consistent (and thus productive) user experience than the free-for-all that's found in many other companies"

"We are honored that Nielsen Norman Group has recognized our work for the second year. Like Nielsen Norman Group, we believe in emphasizing the importance of creating positive user experiences when designing Intranets and other digital media sites and tools. Technology must meet the needs of employees, consumers and other key audiences in order to achieve corporate goals," says Andreas Panayi, Kinesis Partner and CEO.

"What this year's list says is that companies small and large are finally realizing that their employees and other constituents are important audiences that need to be treated on line the same way that their customers are," says Jo Stapleton, Partner at Kinesis. "A good user experience is imperative for all websites to achieve their goals."

Kinesis shares the award with long-time partners Modus Associates and Bootstrap Software as well as the Coldwell Banker marketing team.
